All Christians are called to follow Jesus, as marked at baptism. A few are called to ordained ministry. This is a specific calling, that needs to be discerned and agreed by the Church of England as a whole. Candidates for ordination are recommended by a national Bishops’ Advisory Panel. The selection process is overseen locally by the Diocesan Director of Ordinands (DDO) team.
There are three ministries to which people are ordained; Bishop, Priest and Deacon. These webpages mainly look at ordination to the priesthood and Diaconate.
