This day long workshop aims to provide a basic understanding of loss and the process of grief and look at ways in which bereavement support from a Christian community might be offered to those who have lost a loved one.

The workshop is open to anyone wishing to increase their basic understanding of loss and grief and seeking to better care for the bereaved. It will also be suitable for those who are developing bereavement teams within our churches and Mission Communities.

11-15 – 11-45   Break

11-45 – 12-45   Grief

12-45 – 1-30     Lunch – Soup and Roll (free of charge)

Loss

Component Aim : To provide participants with a greater understanding of the universality, significance and forms of loss and in particular death, with opportunity to look at these from a faith perspective

 

Grief

Component Aim : To provide participants with a greater understanding of reactions to loss, looking at the nature and processes of grief

 

Care of the Bereaved

Component Aim : To provide participants with opportunity to explore ways in which caring responses can be offered in particular to those who have lost a loved one and to consider the development and evolving needs of bereavement teams /carers themselves
